for some reason, i’ve caught myself watching the bachelorette. i don’t know why. it reeled me in.

it’s very interesting to watch men. granted, this is a tv show and a very unique situation. but i think it gives a good view of the core of men. wait a minute..that’s not to mean that all men are a certain way, or that they’re bad. but there is this innate urge to compete amongst men that drives them to do bizarre things. i know from my own experiences in dating, and even being married, that men seem to think that the more stupid they act (thus gaining attention), the more favorable they will become, when in fact, it’s the complete opposite. for example, this one guy on the show is a “martial arts master”. yes, that is the job title he gave. fine enough (although he’s rockin’ the mid ’90’s, billy ray cyrus, ‘don’t break my heart’ mullet). but he decides that he MUST get this woman’s attention. so, he pulls another guy aside, puts a lemon on his head and proceeds to kick it off the top of his head, i assume to prove that he is somehow more manly than the other 25 guys. but honestly, i think she (and basically everyone else) just thought he was a dill. i know i thought that.

i don’t really know what this post is about. it’s not super intellectual; i guess i just found it an interesting study in the sexes…and maybe in my own marriage.

i know one thing: i am so glad that i don’t have to date ever again. watching billy ray chop a lemon off some guy’s head was enough to remind me that i utterly love and respect the man i chose.
